BIOGRAPHY
Jackie Spinner is is the military affairs correspondent  for The Washington Post, where she has been a reporter since May 1995. She was a co-winner of the 2005 Distinguished International Reporting award from the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild. Before working at the Post, Spinner contributed to the Oakland Tribune, the San Diego Tribune, the Decatur Illinois Herald & Review and the Los Angeles Times TV magazine. Spinner grew up in Illinois, the daughter of a pipe-fitter, the late David Spinner, and a school teacher, Donna Spinner. She lives in Maryland.
Dr. Jenny Spinner is an assistant professor of English at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, where she teaches writing and journalism. Her columns and critical and literary essays have appeared in the Hartford Courant, the Washington Post, Newsday, the Decatur Illinois Herald and Review, the Oxford Encyclopedia of American Literature, on NPR’s All Things Considered and in numerous small magazines. She lives in Pennsylvania.
